“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”
This is what, we, DCT proved on 13th Nov,2011.
Our 150th activity, UPAYN, was indeed a grand success, and the credit goes to all the Deepastambha members.
It was Upayn, donation in the form of Gift,on Sunday 13/11/11. Members gathered at the venue at 7am.
All dressed up for first time ever in the DCT T-shirts. Uniformity was the colour of the day.
Morning session was 9am to 1pm & evening was 4pm to 8pm. The Punyayi hall other wise used for dining, looked entirely different. The hall was divided in sections of Blood, Clothes, Books & Eye Donation.
More than 60 DCT members & still no chaos, no internal chatting. All the magic was of real social hard work. Such a good level of commitment, involvement was shown by all the members, it was amazing to watch.
The tasks were allotted perfectly to all the members..
More than 1000 people visited the place mind full of social commitment, this gave a automatic divinity to the place. Right from decoration to Return Gifts to donors, everything was amazing. The jute bags / napkins / certificates for blood donors / key-chain were given to respective donor as a return gift.
The Upayn was such a grand success because of constant efforts from members in awareness pre Upayn. Many people said that a management school students should have been invited to teach them how an event is planned & executed in a best possible manner. The collected clothes & Books will be given to ' Deep Griha Society ' & 'Vanchit Vikas'. Blood donation was supported by 'Janakalyan Blood Bank' & Eye Donation by 'H V Desai Eye Hospital'
DCT also arranged breakfast /Lunch/Dinner for members,Janakalyan team,H.V.Desai Team.
On a single day, under one roof, we had :
261 blood donors( 211 eligible), 236 eye donors, 450+ clothes donors, 80+ books donors,45+ enquiries for DCT membership and 1000+ visitors including all for Upayn 2011.
The idea behind donation is the person who is short of the resources should get those & be comforted. This I think is the biggest direct social work one can do, and we should be really proud that in a real sense, on this day, we were the connection between the needy & the society. Full credit to PMs, if DCT goes like this, one day, We shall rock the world.
Activity drawback: Response by children was less than expected. Had we done the campaigning at the Bal Bhawan or Maharashtra Mandal, etc, the response could have been a bit better, but still, this was the best activity of DCT so far.
We would sincerely like to thank each and every one of the DCT contributors/members who were present for UPAYN preparation, planning as well as execution.
